Iapetus is the 3rd largest moon of Saturn and is an outer moon of Saturn. The moon is rocky and has many impact craters.

Terrain

The moon has many surface features including craters, chasms, plains and mountains, and most notably its large equatorial ridge. Iapetus has lots of ice due to its distance from Saturn.

Gerin is a large impact crater on Iapetus. It is 313 km in diameter.

Equatorial Ridge

An equatorial ridge is located on Iapetus's equator and is thought to be from either past ring matter falling back onto the surface or tectonic activity moving the surface around.
