The Research and Development, also known as R&D, is a part in the Hub where you spend funds for researching parts to unlock them in the Vehicle Assembly Building.
To unlock new parts, press a part pack, make sure you have the money to buy it, then press research or buy. Once you researched or bought the part you needed, you will have it for needed missions.
Current Tech Tree includes:
- Basic Rocketry (Free)
- Solid Fuel Booster ($10M)
- Side Boosters ($20M)
- Heat Shield ($10M)
- Liquid Fuel Rocketry ($45M)
- Powerful Rocketry ($80M)
- Moon Lander ($75M)
- Valiant Engine ($50M)
After all of the Research are bought, all of the parts can be used.

- Like the Mission Center it's not that much and only appears as a grey rectangle. However, the design is still being developed.
- The building is incorporated into the Hub in 1.5.6, along with the Mission Center and the VAB. It was reduced into a tab.
