Some or all of the features on this page require the Skins Expansion in-app purchase.
Skins are modifications to the appearance of certain parts. As of 1.5, it can only be obtained by purchasing the Skins Expansion or the Expansion Bundle in-app purchases.
1.4
To apply a skin to a part, tap the skin button in the bottom right while holding (long-pressing) a part with one finger. Upon touching the button, the game switches to the next skin available. Players can continue tapping until receiving the pattern desired.
If the player presses the button while not holding a part, the game prompts "Hold a part to change its skin".
Variants
There are approximately 41 different skins available to be added to parts. The skins available vary on the size and type of the part. The images below show every fuel tank type and the skins they can have.
Other parts
Parts like aerodynamic fuselages and fairings can also be skinned. Aerodynamic fuselages have black and white skins. Fairings have only a vertical stripe texture. Fairing nosecones, however, are not able to inherit this skin. There are some secret skins that can only be obtained by bp-editing
1.5
As of 1.5, the skin system was changed drastically. All separators were given the same skin options (Previously only the two largest separators could be customised). All fuel tanks were given the same skin options. Skins and texture were given separate menus. Fairings were given the option to be coloured. A new, metallic skin was added.
